Fel-Pro head gasket sets

A Fel-Pro head gasket set, usually an HS part number, is the box for a job with the cylinder head off. It typically includes the head gaskets and the intake, exhaust, and valve-cover gaskets that procedure disturbs, and on many engines the valve stem seals. It does not typically include the oil pan gasket, the rear main seal, or the timing cover set.

Many of these sets are PermaTorqueMLS, Fel-Pro's multi-layer steel design. Others are composite, or a performance gasket with a steel wire ring at the bore. The part page is where that construction, bore, and thickness are listed. A PT suffix marks many PermaTorque parts. When a prefix and the part type disagree, the part type on the page is the one to trust.

A head set does not include torque-to-yield head bolts. Those are a separate catalog part. Bolts that were tightened past their yield do not clamp the same way a second time, so Fel-Pro's instructions for those engines call for new bolts. Torque sequence and surface finish are on the sheet in the box.
